Today, wireless communications technology will gradually and inevitably be part of our lives. While, in general, wireless communications technology is regarded as a technology that provides boundless freedom to users. It is also a time and cost saving technology. With a simple definition, wireless communications technology is a technology that provides point to point access or communications among the users in a local area network. In a sense, wireless communications technology shows similarities with the widely used wired communications technology of today. The differentiating point is that it uses air as the transmission medium instead of cable. While electric current is transmitted over the wires in wired communications, in wireless communications, electromagnetic waves are transmitted at a certain frequency. u In this thesis, performance analysis of a wireless local area communications with access point was observed and evaluated. In the analysis, packet loss and response time data were obtained and compared with wired communications. Our measurements are carried out with various signal strengths for the cases of wireless to wireless, wireless to wired, wired to wired, wired to wireless, wireless to www.cankaya.edu.tr and wired to www.cankaya.edu.tr. Although the numbers are close in wireless-to-wired and wired-to-wireless situations, it was observed that wireless-to-wired situations had slightly better values, however, wired-to-wired case yielding the best results, as expected
