Ankara: Çankaya Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri EnstitüsüA genuine origin and language for the universal principles of architecture(2015-08) Acar, Aktan; Çankaya Üniversitesi, Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Matematik ve Bilgisayar BölümüToday, architectural theories are replaced by instant discoursive positions, which are mainly overwhelmed by a crisis of meaning and legitimacy. The examination of the history of architectural theories showed that those instant positions are based on the architectural theories of the 18th century. The reverse-chronological investigation of the theories of the 18th century has revealed the emancipation of architecture from its metaphysic knowledge, which distanced the theory from its origins dissociatively, in the 17th century as the reason that crisis. That knowledge was defining the particulars of architectural theory, such as origin, meaning, character, taste, and form from antiquity to the late 17th century. The research showed that those particulars constitute the universals of architecture. Their genuine origin and language defining them were structured by Vitruvius in the 1st century BC on the basis of six essential concepts: order, arrangement, symmetry, eurhythmy, propriety and economy. Those concepts have been revisited and redefined in order to reflect upon the domain itself by means of its own terminology, rather than imported concepts. This reflection, considered as a further study, would proceed towards solid and valid architectural theories corresponding the crisis of meaning and legitimacy.Item Citation Count: AL-SALIHI, A.A.M. Ankara: Çankaya Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri EnstitüsüA robust key management scheme for hierarchical wireless sensor networks(2015-05) Al-Salihi, Aso Ahmed Majeed; Çankaya Üniversitesi, Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Matematik ve Bilgisayar BölümüWireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are used in many applications such as monitoring, target tracking and military applications, etc. A network is comprised of a large number of small, cheap, computational, limited energy devices which are called sensor nodes. These nodes are randomly deployed in open area to gather information. They communicate with each other via wireless media which are, however, vulnerable to being attacked by malicious nodes that may impersonate legitimate nodes. This makes the whole network liable to being hacked. Thus, security for WSNs is needed to keep any gathered data safe and to protect the communication links between sensor nodes. Key management plays a critical role in achieving security in a WSN. In this thesis, a robust key management scheme for hierarchical WSNs depends on, and exploits, the advantage of symmetric and asymmetric key cryptography. The proposed scheme uses the SHA-1 in HMAC not unlike a symmetric key for cluster formation and encryption of the private key via ECC, such as asymmetric key cryptography. Ultimately, the proposed scheme should be used to solve all these problems mentioned above.Item Citation Count: KOTHER, S.H. (2015). Ankara: Çankaya Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri EnstitüsüFault tolerant overlay networks design(2015-07) Aziz Al-Agele, Raad Sadi; Çankaya Üniversitesi, Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Matematik ve Bilgisayar BölümüIn this thesis designs a reliable and scalable overlay network with fault-tolerance incorporation to support topic-based publish/subscribe communication. For scalability and efficiency, it is important to keep the degree of the nodes in the publish/subscribe system low. We proposes a new optimization problem named Fault-Tolerant Overlay Networks Design, where the trade-offs among several key dimensions such as fault tolerance, scalability, performance, and message dissemination are captured by it. The Fault-Tolerant Overlay Networks design problem is: given a set of nodes and their topic subscriptions connect the nodes to create a topic 2-connected overlay for pub/sub systems with minimum maximum degree, i.e., for each topic the sub-overlay induced by nodes interested in the topic is 2- connected. It presents an algorithm, namely GM3 for this problem which guarantees that the overlay network will be topic 2-connected and which aims at keeping the maximum node degree low. Experimental results show that GM3 algorithm is able to achieve low maximum node degree of publish/subscribe overlay systems.Item Citation Count: AL RETHA, A. (2015). Investigation in MYSQL database and NEO4J database. Yayımlanmamış yüksek lisans tezi. Ankara: Çankaya Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri EnstitüsüInvestigation in MYSQL database and NEO4J database(2015-06) Al-Ani, Zahraa Mustafa Abdulrahman; Çankaya Üniversitesi, Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Matematik ve Bilgisayar BölümüCurrently, there are two major of database management systems which are used to deal with data, the first one called Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) which is the traditional relational databases, it deals with structured data and have been popular since decades from 1970, while the second one called Not only Structure Query Language databases (NoSQL), they have been dealing with semi-structured and unstructured data; the NoSQL term was introduced for the first time in 1998 by Carlo Strozzi and Eric Evans reintroduced the term NoSQL in early 2009, and now the NoSQL types are gaining their popularity with the development of the internet and the social media. NoSQL are intending to override the cons of RDBMS, such as fixed schemas, JOIN operations and handling the scalability problems. With the appearance of Big Data, there was clearly a need for more flexible databases. In this study, a theoretical study of investigating in two types of databases MySQL one of the traditional relational databases, and Neo4j one of the graph databases. First of all, choosing these two types of the databases according to their features, both of them depending on the replication and sharding in their systems. Secondly, a brief background with literature review will introduce the opinions for some researchers with some concepts. Thirdly, mentioning relational database and NoSQL in generally and MySQL and Neo4j in specifically, then try to make a comparison between the features for both of them. Moreover, all the websites, the researches, and the journals are the resources for this study. In addition, this study is like mentioned before is a theoretical study so there was no implementation work. However, the comparison presented the result in this study. All in all, we try to provide an understanding for MySQL and Neo4j, that leads us to find both of MySQL and Neo4j have their features, pros and cons that differ from each other.Item Citation Count: AL-RAHEYM, S. Ankara: Çankaya Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri EnstitüsüInvestigation of amazon and google for fault tolerance strategies in cloud computing services(2015-01) Al-Raheym, Shereen; Çankaya Üniversitesi, Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Matematik ve Bilgisayar BölümüCloud computing has recently become an attractive topic due to its ability to offer information technology solutions through virtual machines as on-demand services to share and consume resources over the Internet. As a result of rapid development in such services, the necessity of fault tolerance in the cloud is a major concern with reliability, availability and dependability is more critical to this new service type. This thesis investigates techniques and means of tolerating cloud services as well as cloud customers’ systems/enterprises execution over the cloud safe from failures. As one of this findings shows, failures in cloud enabled services should be expected to occur hence they should be handled. The essential features of implementing fault tolerance strategies guarantee the business continuity, avoid financial lost, recovering systems from failures, and provide disaster recovery as well. The specific focus is to explore scenarios of avoiding/recovering from failures through redundancy, checkpoint and replication. Commercial IaaS providers such as Amazon’s AWS and Google’s GCE are taken as examples as they tolerate their infrastructure from failures; in this way a robust architecture with fault tolerance property could be proposed for a system/enterprise. Hence, a general conceptual model with fault tolerance considerations has been proposed. With this basis, addressing potential failures in detail, implementing fault tolerance techniques, organizing teamwork to setup business policies are left for future work. Such limitations can be addressed through online questionnaires to collect information for case studies.Item Citation Count: ABOSHARB, L. (2013). Iterative solution of sparse linear systems. Yayımlanmamış yüksek lisans tezi. Ankara: Çankaya Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri EnstitüsüIterative solution of sparse linear systems(2013-01) Abosharb, Laila; Çankaya Üniversitesi, Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Matematik ve Bilgisayar BölümüLinear systems of equations are encountered frequently in many problems in science and engineering. In large systems representing complicated problems, it is vital to make use of the sparsity of the problem. In such systems, using iterative methods rather than direct methods may decrease the time necessary for solutions. This theses is a survey of techniques used to obtain the solution of large sparse linear systems with emphasis on preconditioning. Mainly, we compare the number of arithmetic operations necessary to solve sparse linear systems using Gaussian elimination before and after reordering the coe cient matrix by Cuthill-McKee algorithm to reduce bandwidth.Item Citation Count: AL-MAHDAWI, H.K.I. Ankara: Çankaya Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri EnstitüsüLegacy applications migration on to cloud(2015-12) Al-Mahdawi, Hassan K. Ibrahim; Çankaya Üniversitesi, Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Matematik ve Bilgisayar BölümüCloud computing is defined as a type of computing that depends on sharing computing resources rather than using local computer resources. What makes this technology different than traditional client-server architecture is that the resources are shared through virtualized machines. This technology is becoming popular as a number advantages such as high scalability and reduced IT costs attract potential users. On the other hand, some challenges, such as legacy applications to be moved to cloud computing environment, are to be discussed. In this work, possible stages to manage and undertake such a migration are attempted to be explored and described. The stages are proposed not only to describe the necessary steps but also to itemize related constraints for each level of migration. Main limitations include plans for migration hence a comprehensive/complete work-flow targeting organization specific requirements such as financial, cultural and legislative parameters remains as a future research avenue. Nevertheless, main benefit of this work is to assist organizations who need to migrate legacy applications onto cloud environment is supported as the work-flow is argued be used as a base to determine the constraints/issues that may arise at the stages.Item Citation Count: GAMBO, Y.Y. On performance evaluation of black hole attack in ad-hoc on demand distance vector routing protocol using network simulator 2. Yayımlanmamış yüksek lisans tezi. Ankara: Çankaya Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri EnstitüsüOn performance evaluation of black hole attack in ad-hoc on demand distance vector routing protocol using network simulator 2(2015-04) Al-Husseini, Saif; Çankaya Üniversitesi, Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Matematik ve Bilgisayar BölümüA Wireless ad-hoc network is a network that consists of wireless nodes like (Mobile, Laptop…) moving random in the area that have no network infrastructure. The nodes communicate with each other; they work together by forwarding data packets to other nodes in the network. Thus the nodes need a routing protocol to find a path to destination node. Nevertheless, due to safety vulnerabilities of the routing protocols, wireless ad-hoc networks are open to attack of the malicious nodes. Black Hole is one of these attacks, which Attack against network integrity engrossing all data packets in the network. Where the data packets are do not reach the destination node on account of this attack, data loss will occur. So to solve this problem of detection and defense mechanisms to remove the intruder that carries out the black hole attack. In this research, we will simulate the black hole attack in wireless ad-hoc network for different scenarios. And then we will propose a detection system for Black Hole.Item Citation Count: ÖZYÜREK, M. (2015). On some applications of local fractional calculus. Yayımlanmamış yüksek lisans tezi.
