Article Cittaslow movement from a critical point of view(Kare Publ, 2018) Ozmen, Ayca; Özmen, Ayça; Can, Mehmet Cengiz; 143106The Cittaslow Movement, shaped upon the idea of slowness, emerged as a reaction to the negative effects of globalization on small cities. It was founded in 1999 in Italy through initiatives implemented by the mayors of 4 small towns (Greve in Chianti, Orvieto, Positano, Bra) and the founder of Slow Food. This movement, which aims to increase the quality of life by preserving and sustaining the local values of settlements, was quickly embraced by more than 200 small cities and towns in 30 countries. However, Cittaslow is still relatively new and developing movement, and the long-term results are not yet fully known. Cittaslow provides practical guidelines for a more livable settlement, rather than relying on theoretical concerns. It emerged as a result of social reflection rather than scientific research. Therefore, concomitant problems may arise in the implementation process. Nevertheless, in the near future, the concept is expected to continue to grow socially and scientifically through the efforts of Cittaslow International to improve the movement and as a result of the increasing interest of researchers and local authorities. It is therefore important to understand and interpret the essence of the Cittaslow Movement properly at this time. The aim of this article was to provide a framework for the founding ideas and goals of the Cittaslow Movement and to describe its development and progress. The outcomes thus far were evaluated from a critical point of view in order to make new proposals. The goal of this research was to raise awareness of the Cittaslow Movement among all stakeholders, particularly local authorities and residents.Article Finite Element Method Application For Nonlinear Mechanical Response Of Three-Dimensonal Beams Using Mathematica(Gazi Univ, 2019) Tanriover, Hakan; 153029Mechanical behavior of beams under large rotations and displacements was investigated. Using co-rotational approach given by Crisfield, three dimensional beam finite elements was modeled in Mathematica environment. The symbolic process of Mathematica provides keeping the parameters in the model as variables and beams having different geometries can be modelled easily. The yielding non-linear equation system was solved by utilizing Newton-Raphson technique. Dynamic balance equations and numerical time integration method were introduced, the solution process was left as a future work, however. Comparisons with the results of ANSYS and those of the works from the literature are accomplished.Article Misinterpretations of Intrusions, Obsessive Beliefs and Thought Control Strategies in Patients With Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder(Cumhuriyet Univ Tip Fak Psikiyatri Anabilim Dali, 2013) Yorulmaz, Orcun; Baştuğ, Gülbahar; Bastug, Gulbahar; Tuzer, Verda; Goka, Erol; 48292Objective: Misinterpretations of intrusive experiences are suggested to play critical role in the development and maintenance of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Some faulty belief domains are also assumed to contribute to the immediate misappraisal of intrusions and thus, patients with OCD try to control their thoughts with various thought control strategies. This study aims to examine these cognitive concepts among Turkish patients with OCD and comparatively review the psychometric characteristics of three instruments in clinical samples. Methods: The sample of the study was constituted of patients with OCD and any other anxiety disorders and undergraduate university students as control group. An instrument set on immediate misinterpretations, beliefs, control strategies, responsibility attitudes, fusions of thoughts and actions, thought suppression, OCD symptoms, self-esteem and personality characteristics was administered to the sample. Results: Having acceptable reliability values, instrument tools of immediate interpretations, beliefs and thought control methods were found to be higher in OCD patients. These three factors were found to be significantly associated with other relevant cognitive correlates, while they were not related to some other factors such as psychoticism. Conclusion: These findings show that misinterpretations of intrusions, beliefs and control methods are also valid concepts in Turkish clinical samples that live in a different cultural context, and the self-report instruments of these cognitive factors were shown to display satisfactory psychometric properties.
