Book Part Citation - Scopus: 1The Causal Relationship Between Esg and Economic Growth: Evidence From the Panel of Commonwealth Independent States(Springer International Publishing, 2024) Baskaraagac, N.Y.This paper analyzes the causal relationship between ESG and economic growth for CIS member states over the sample period 1996–2020. Since the results of the varied panel stationarity tests suggest mixed findings on the order of integration, the ARDL model is employed to determine the co-integration relation among the series. The result of the VEC model, which is estimated to explore the long-run and short-run dynamics of this casual relation between the series in a basic way, suggests that there is a causal relationship running from income level to ESG criteria. This implies that the adaptation of macroeconomic policies which will stimulate the economic growth process in CIS countries may also encourage the ESG indicator levels of the economy. © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.Book Part Virtual Reality-Based Daily Scrum Meetings(Springer International Publishing, 2024) Yilmaz, M.Book Citation - Scopus: 5Principles of Signals and Systems(Springer International Publishing, 2022) Gazi, O.The textbook presents basic concepts of signals and systems in a clear manner, based on the author's 15+ years of teaching the undergraduate course for engineering students. To attain full benefit from the content, readers should have a strong knowledge of calculus and be familiar with integration, differentiation, and summation operations. The book starts with an introduction to signals and systems and continues with coverage of basic signal functions and their manipulations; energy, power, convolution, and systems; Fourier analysis of continuous time signals and digital signals; Laplace transform; and Z transforms. Practical applications are included throughout. The book is also packed with solved examples, self-study exercises, and end of chapter problems. © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.Book Part Citation - Scopus: 1Hardy’s Type Inequalities Via Conformable Calculus(Springer International Publishing, 2019) Kenawy, M.R.Z.; Baleanu, D.; Saker, S.A.In this chapter, we establish some inequalities of Hardy and Leindler type and their converses via conformable calculus with weighted functions. As applications, we obtain some classical integral inequalities as special cases. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.Book Part Citation - Scopus: 3A New Framework for a Resilience-Based Disaster Risk Management(Springer International Publishing, 2021) Galderisi, A.; Altay-Kaya, D.This chapter aims at providing hints to improve existing frameworks for disaster risk management based on a review of the main documents framing disaster management within the last two and a half decades and with reference to the potential contribution of resilience thinking. The evolution path of disaster risk management shows that, although some progresses have been made, there are still numerous gaps to be filled. On the opposite, focusing on the increasing convergence of resilience and disaster studies, it emerges that a resilience-based approach could still provide significant theoretical and operational inputs towards an improved disaster risk management. In particular, this chapter emphasizes the potential contribution of resilience thinking in developing a new framework for guiding disaster risk management capable of (1) taking into consideration the rapidly changing risk landscapes due to the interplay between climate change and the consequent increase of hazardous events, urbanization patterns and the complex interrelationships among them; (2) shifting from sectoral approaches to disaster risk reduction (DRR) towards integrated approaches and cross-sectoral strategies and tools; (3) embracing transformational perspectives to significantly reduce disaster losses and achieve sustainability goals; (4) improving learning capacity through the setting up of continual learning processes; (5) emphasizing the role of spatial and land use planning for DRR; and (6) developing more innovative governance models based on collaboration, shared responsibility and active engagement of the stakeholders. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021.Book Part Citation - Scopus: 2Russia-Turkey Relations (1991-2016): Diverging Interests and Compelling Realities(Springer International Publishing, 2017) Ekinci, D.Book Part Citation - Scopus: 5The Relationship Between Foreign Direct Investment and Co 2 Emissions Across a Panel of Countries(Springer International Publishing, 2018) Yaşar, N.; Telatar, M.E.This paper analyses the relationship between foreign direct investment inflows and pollution emissions for 139 countries during the period of 1970-2015 and the countries are classified into four groups regarding to the World Bank income ranking. The main motivation of this study is to analyse, whether the causal relationship differs between different income groups. For this purpose, panel ARDL (Auto Regressive Distributed Lag) boundary approach and Granger causality test are used. The results of the study indicate that the causal relationship between FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) and CO 2 emissions differs depending on which income group country belongs to. We conclude that, while there is not statistically significant short-run causality relationship running from FDI to CO 2 emission for high income, upper middle income and low income group countries, the pollution haven hypothesis is supported for lower middle income group countries. © Springer International Publishing AG, part of Springer Nature 2018.Book Part Citation - Scopus: 7The Convergence of Electricity Prices for European Union Countries(Springer International Publishing, 2020) Telatar, M.E.; Yaşar, N.The goal of achieving a single European market for electricity has been one of the main objectives for European countries since the “Single European Act” of 1988. The main purpose of this study is to examine whether the aim of unified electricity market has been achieved in terms of the convergence of electricity prices. Β-Convergence and s-convergence tests, are applied for 12 European Union states electricity price data through the period of 2003-2017. For this reason, along with conventional applied techniques, recently improved unit root tests are implemented for both linear and nonlinear data generating processes. The results suggest that convergence did not occur for most of the considered countries. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020.Book Part Citation - Scopus: 3On Mittag-Leffler Kernel-Dependent Fractional Operators With Variable Order(Springer International Publishing, 2019) Jarad, F.; Bahaa, G.M.; Abdeljawad, T.In this work, integration by parts formulas for variable-order fractional operators with Mittag-Leffler kernels are presented and applied to study constrained fractional variational principles involving variable-order Caputo-type Atangana–Baleanu’s derivatives, where the variable-order fractional Euler–Lagrange equations are investigated. A general formulation of fractional Optimal Control Problems (FOCPs) and a solution scheme for such class of systems are proposed. The performance index of a FOCP is taken into consideration as function of state as well as control variables. © 2019, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.Book Citation - Scopus: 8State Machines Using Vhdl: Fpga Implementation of Serial Communication and Display Protocols(Springer International Publishing, 2021) Çagri Arli, A.; Gazi, O.This textbook teaches students techniques for the design of advanced digital systems using Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). The authors focus on communication between FPGAs and peripheral devices (such as EEPROM, analog-to-digital converters, sensors, digital-to-analog converters, displays etc.) and in particular state machines and timed state machines for the implementation of serial communication protocols, such as UART, SPI, I2C, and display protocols, such as VGA, HDMI. VHDL is used as the programming language and all topics are covered in a structured, step-by-step manner. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021. All rights reserved.
