    Redefining Osint Software Architecture With System-Centric Architecture Design: a Framework Shaped by Qaw, Add, and Atam

    This study develops a novel software architecture for Open Source Intelligence (OSINT). The primary architectural drivers of the OSINT architecture are identified using the Quality Attribute Workshop (QAW), and an end-to-end OSINT software architecture design is implemented in accordance with Attribute-Driven Design (ADD). The architecture is extensively analyzed with metric evaluations and the Architecture Tradeoff Analysis Method (ATAM), confirming critical quality attributes such as performance, reliability, functional suitability, and security. The design decisions taken within this architectural framework are detailed in the article through module view, component and connector view, and allocation view representations. The proposed architecture uses an on-premise Large Language Model (LLM) to explore the potential for deeper and more reliable information processing capabilities in OSINT analyses and presents a framework that enhances semantic depth and analytical capabilities. The architecture not only amplifies the semantic and analytical capabilities of OSINT systems but also sets a precedent for future architectural endeavors in intelligence systems design. This paper presents a framework that not only meets contemporary needs but also anticipates future demands in the rapidly evolving field of OSINT.

    Security Requirements in Iot Environments

    The Internet of Things (IoT) is a relatively new concept as it connects things (or objects) that do not have high computational power. The IoT helps these things see, listen, and take action by interoperating with minimal human intervention to make people’s lives easier. However, these systems are vulnerable to attacks and security threats that could potentially undermine consumer confidence in them. For this reason, it is critical to understand the characteristics of IoT security and their requirements before starting to discuss how to protect them. In this scope, the present work reviews the importance of security in IoT applications, factors that restrict the use of traditional security methods to protect IoTs, and the basic requirements necessary to judge them as secure environments. © 2022, ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

    Do Users Sacrifice Security for Speed and Ease-of-Use on Smartphones?: A Case Study on Attitude

    Storing credentials on smartphones to perform online activities increases ease-of-use (EoU) and speed. However, such practices increase security risks, especially if users use a number of applications or store data on their smartphones. Risks become more complicated by keeping smartphones online. This work aims to find potential relationships between security perceptions of smartphone users and their ease-of-use and speed preferences. Two user attitudes are defined as “not considering risk” and “risk exaggeration.” User ease-of-use and speed preferences are limited with the factors related to storing credentials on a smartphone and always keeping the device online. A survey of 154 participants was conducted through convenience sampling. Through regression analyses, logarithmic causality relations are found between EoU and speed and attitudes of not considering risk or risk exaggeration; so the participants preferred to take advantage of EoU and speed despite the fact that they were aware of the risks.

    Robust Medical Image Watermarking Using Frequency Domain and Least Significant Bits Algorithms

    Watermarking and stenography are getting importance recently because of copyright protection and authentication. In watermarking we embed stamp, logo, noise or image to multimedia elements such as image, video, audio, animation, software and text. There are several works have been done in watermarking for different purposes. In this research work we used watermarking techniques to embed patient information into the medical magnetic resonance (MR) images. There are two methods have been used; frequency domain (Digital Wavelet Transform-DWT, Digital Cosine Transform-DCT and Digital Fourier Transform-DFT) and spatial domain (Least Significant Bits-LSB). Experimental results show that embedding in frequency domains resist against one group of attacks, and embedding in spatial domain is resist against another group of attacks. Peak Signal Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Similarity Ratio (SR) values are two measurement values for testing. This two values gives very promising result for information hiding in medical MR images.
