| gperson.biography | Dr. Papatya Nur DÖKMECI YÖRÜKOĞLU is an Associate Professor of Interior Architecture specializing in the field of acoustics and noise management. She is the head of the Interior Architecture Department and the director of the Acoustics Research and Application Center at Cankaya University. She received her M.A. and B.F.A. degrees from Bilkent University, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design in Ankara, Turkey. In her Ph.D. studies, which she completed at the School of Architecture, Sheffield University, United Kingdom, she mainly focused on establishing a novel framework of indoor soundscaping. With her graduate students, she conducts research on indoor soundscaping, indoor environmental quality, acoustic comfort, auditory and spatial perception, semiotics, and soundscapes. Besides her academic and administrative works, she also teaches year-4 interior design studio and courses related to indoor environmental factors, mainly on architectural acoustics, soundscape, and building services, for both undergraduate and graduate levels. She is the co-president of the Turkish Acoustics Association (TAKDER) and a council member of the European Acoustics Association (EAA) Technical Committee on Noise. | |
