Cost comparison of establishing classroom-based private education course institution and an internet-based asynchronous education institution

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın başlıca amacı, sınıf-tabanlı özel dershaneleri ve internet-tabanlı zamanuyumsuz eğitim kurumlarının karşılaştırmalı analizini maliyet açısından elde etmektir. Ayrıca, bu kurumların önemli özellikleri belirtilmekte ve her iki eğitim sistemi için, öğretim ve öğrenim strateji lerindeki farklar tartışılmaktadır. İnternet-tabanlı eğitim sistemlerinin avantajları ve dezavantajları vurgulanarak, bu sistemin gelecekte daha fazla tartışılacak bir eğitim metodu seçeneği olduğu gösterilmeye çalışılmaktadır. Özellikle, her iki kurum için maliyet yapılarındaki farklar araştırılmaktadır ve bu maliyet özellikleri ile bağlantılı olarak, belirli şartlar altında başa-baş öğrenci sayısı elde edilmektedir. Eğitim kurumunun karşılaştırmalı maliyet hesaplarının karmaşıklığında, bu yordamın basitleştirilmesine çalışılmaktadır. Maliyet hesapları ve varsayımları, ağırlıklı olarak uzmanların görüşlerine dayandırılmaktadır. Ayrıca, çalışmanın bulguları ışığında, kullanılan medya teknolojisine ve derslerin karmaşıklığına bağlı olarak, internet-tabanlı eğitim sisteminin maliyetlerinin önemli miktarda artabileceği görülmektedir. İnanılmaktadır ki, ders geliştirme maliyeti, internet-tabanlı eğitim kurumlarının yayılması için önemli bir engel oluşturmaktadır. The primary purpose of this study is to get a comparative cost analysis of the foundation of private education course institutions and internet-based asynchronous education institutions from cost point of view. In addition, significant features of these institutions are presented, and differences in teaching and learning strategies for both types of education systems are discussed. Mentioning advantages and disadvantages of internet-based education systems, it is intended to show that it is an alternative method in education to be discussed further in future. More specifically, differences in cost structures for both institutions are investigated and in connection with cost features, number of students to break-even is obtained under certain conditions. In the complexity of the comparative cost estimates of an educational institution, this study is an attempt to simplify this procedure. Cost estimates and assumptions are largely based on experts' views. Furthermore, in the light of the findings from the study, depending on the media technology used and the complexity of courses, it is seen that costs of internet-based education system may rise substantially. It is believed that the course development cost is an important barrier for the internet-based education institutions to become widespread. However, by not utilizing some possibilities of technology, reasonable number of students to break-even can be achieved.
