Abstract
The momentum expression of a photon is derived by taking into account the absorption process by an electron. The defect of the actual momentum representation is shown by using the equations of energy and momentum conservation. The phase and group velocities of the photon that represents the particle aspect of light are also obtained with the aid of the new formulation. (C) 2013 Elsevier GmbH. All rights reserved.
