Potansiyeli Tahayyül Etmek: Agamben’in Bartleby'si

Abstract

Bu makalenin amacı Giorgio Agamben’in, Herman Melville tarafından yazılmış bir metin olan, Bartleby okumasını tartışmaktır. Bunu yaparken, Aristoteles’in potansiyel kavramına dair tartışması teorik kalkış noktası olacaktır. Bu eksenden hareketle makale Agamben’in Aristoteles’in potansiyel kavramına yaklaşımını nasıl açıkladığına ışık tutmaya çalışacaktır. Makalenin ana argümanı; Agamben’in Bartleby’sinin, Aristoteles’in edimselin potansiyele olan önceliğine vurgu yapan perspektifini ters yüz ettiğidir.The aim of this article is to discuss Giorgio Agamben’s reading of Bartleby, a text written by Herman Melville. In so doing, Aristotle’s debate concerning the concept of potentiality will be a theoretical point of departure. Moving from this axis, the article will attempt to shed light upon how Agamben explicates Aristotelian approach to the concept of potentiality. The major argument of the article is that Agamben’s Bartleby inverts Aristotle’s perspective that puts an emphasis on the priority of actuality over potentiality.
