Salvation through beauty: Iris Murdoch’s new religion in a godless universe

Abstract

Novelist Iris Murdoch is also a modern philosopher, who is aware of the moral dilemma of the scientific age. For her, morality is the only means of salvation in this age, as she considers morals not related with religion but with metaphysics. Thus, any moral attempt to achieve good is a transcendental experience.
