The Impact Of Cloud Computing And Artificial Intelligence Integration On Service Transformation İn Academic Libraries
(University and Research Librarians Association (UNAK), 2025) Celik, Murat
This study examines the effects of cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, which are the leading components of information age technologies, on transforming academic libraries from traditional service understanding to modern information centers. The findings obtained through the literature review method show that the infrastructural flexibility, efficiency, and scalability brought by cloud computing and the automation, personalization, and accessibility opportunities provided by AI lead to significant transformations in library services. In addition, the studies revealed that integrating cloud computing and artificial intelligence provides significant gains, such as accelerating access to information, improving user experience, and increasing operational efficiency. However, in addition to infrastructural deficiencies and financial constraints, integration processes also bring about various challenges, such as data security, ethical concerns, legal regulations, personnel competencies, and institutional readiness. The study analyzes the current status of these technologies in libraries, their potential application areas, and future effects. It offers strategic recommendations for information professionals and institution managers in this transformation process. As a result of the study aims to shed light on the future service models of academic libraries by offering suggestions such as continuous education, inter-institutional collaborations, strategic planning and the establishment of ethical policies to overcome these difficulties. © 2025 University and Research Librarians Association (UNAK). The Role of Cultural Heritage in Resilience Planning: Evidence From 100 Resilient Cities
(Firenze Univ Press, 2025) Altay-Kaya, Deniz; Yesilbag, Damla
As a container of accumulated experiences, cultural heritage connects past, present and future by transmitting knowledge to future generations through tangible/intangible assets. With this potential, cultural heritage can significantly contribute to community resilience, yet available resilience strategy documents place limited emphasis on cultural heritage. Based on this observed lack of systematic consideration, this paper analyses the resilience strategy documents presented in the 100 Resilient Cities Programme, and discerns six approaches towards cultural heritage, namely ignorance, economic development tool, identity construction, social component, physical integration tool, and comprehensive consideration. The paper discusses further ways cultural heritage can enhance community resilience.

Travma Sonrasi Stres Bozukluǧu Hastalarinda Üstbilişlere İlişkin İnançlar
    (ANP Publishing, 2019) Yazihan, N.; Yelboǧa, Z.
Objective: The concept of metacognition can be described as metacognitive structures controlling, arranging and assessing the cognitions. The aim of this study was to investigate metacognitive beliefs and their relationship with the psychological symptoms of posttrumatic stress disorder (PTSD) patients. Method: The sample consisted of 52 posttraumatic stress disorder patients (mean age=31,67±6,54) and 54 healthy participants (mean age=29,00±6,61). Metacognitive beliefs were measured through Metacognitive Questionnaire-30 which is accepted as a measuring device of metacognitive beliefs, metacognitive processes and judgment. To describe symptom profiles Symtom Checklist-90 was used. Results: Data were analyzed by using MANCOVA. PTSD group scores were significantly higher than control group for uncontrallability and danger (includes items that worry and rumination are negative, dangerous and difficult to control); need to control thoughts (includes items that some thoughts are need to be controlled and suppressed) and finally lack of "cognitive confidence" (includes items about problems related to memory and attention). On the other hand, positive beliefs about thoughts which involves the items related to the idea that worry and rumination is functional was lower among individuals with PTSD. Discussion: Trauma patients think that worry and rumination have negative consequences, and some thoughts need to be controlled and supressed as they are dangerous. The elevation of clinical symptoms such as obsession, depression and psychotic symptoms were correlated with the increase of abnormal metacognitive belifs. Thoughts are dangerous and need to be controlled, appear to be related to obsesive thoughts, anger and hostility and interpersonal sensitivity sypmtoms. © 2019 ANP Publishing. All rights reserved.

The Ever-Evolving Dark Side Emotions of the Football Supporters: A Study on Adaptation of Schadenfreude Scale
(Pamukkale University, 2025) Şener, İrge; Karapolatgil, Ahmet Anıl
Enjoying from others’ maleficence, defined as schadenfreude, is a common emotion among football team supporters. Based on the social identity of supporters, schadenfreude develops as part of the rivalry, which the main sources of it are ‘similarity’, ‘repeated competition’, and ‘competitiveness’. This study is aimed to understand and classify supporters’ schadenfreude reasons based on an adapted scale. For this aim, the data gathered from a questionnaire consisting of a sample of 1.163 supporters of 14 Turkish football teams is examined by SPSS in order to reveal participants’ schadenfreude and their reasons for evaluating their rivals. As a result of participants’ rivalry classifications, the most common reasons for considering a team as a rival are determined respectively as ‘image’, ‘neighborhood’, and ‘worldview difference’. Moreover, schadenfreude is mostly felt towards the archrival, and supporters would be happiest with negativities experienced by the rival team’s managers. However, damage to rival team facilities is found as an unhappy situation. The study is the first that demonstrates the relationship between schadenfreude and rivalry and proposes ‘unique incident’ and ‘feasible contingencies’ as new rivalry factors. With these factors, different perspectives on the formation and continuity of rivalry are presented.

Effectiveness of Gender Equality Policies in G20 Parliaments: a Fuzzy Logic Analysis
    (Academic Conferences and Publishing International Limited, 2024) Arzu Kalemci, R.; Ozkan-Canbolat, E.; Kalemci-Tuzun, I.
The institutional theory draws attention to the possibility of decoupling. Decoupling refers to complying with external pressures, organizations can maintain their internal practices without changing them. There is a relative increase in the number of women in parliament in almost all G20 countries on an annual basis. However even though the ratio of women's seats in the national parliament has increased relatively in some countries, our knowledge is limited whether gender equality policies are effectively implemented. Based on the observation about the relative increase in the women seats in the G20 national parliaments, the current study examines whether there is decoupling. The study adopts the quantitative data collection method and analyses the fuzzy logic method. The findings of the study reveal that decoupling may exist in G20 countries even where the human development index is high. © 2024 Proceedings of the International Conference on Gender Research. Examining the Influence of Autonomous Vehicle Behaviors on Travel Times and Vehicle Arrivals: a Comparative Study Across Different Simulation Durations on the Kirkuk-Sulaymaniyah Highway
(Society of Automotive Engineers Turkey, 2024) Albdairi, M.; Almusawi, A.
This study delves into the effects of autonomous vehicle behaviors on travel times and vehicle arrivals along the Kirkuk-Sulaymaniyah Highway, employing simulations spanning 3600, 5400, and 7200 seconds. Across varied traffic volumes ranging from 350 to 950 vehicles and autonomous vehicle behaviors categorized as cautious, normal, aggressive, aggressive platoons, and a mix alongside human-driven vehicles, the research unveils significant findings. Results highlight substantial reductions in average travel times and heightened vehicle arrivals among autonomous vehicles, particularly those exhibiting aggressive behaviors, compared to their human-driven counterparts. Across all simulation scenarios, aggressive autonomous vehicles consistently demonstrate superior performance, showcasing potential efficiency gains through aggressive driving algorithms. Furthermore, with increasing traffic volume, the advantages of aggressive autonomous behaviors become more pronounced, suggesting their adaptability to congested conditions. However, safety implications and traffic flow dynamics warrant caution, especially in scenarios with high volumes and aggressive behaviors. These insights underscore the importance of further research and policy considerations to leverage the full potential of autonomous vehicles while ensuring safely and efficiency on highways. © 2024 Society of Automotive Engineers Turkey. Unwelcome Consequences: Christina Dalcher’s Vox and John Lanchester’s the Wall
(Faculty of Philology, University of Bialystok, 2022) Rundholz, A.
The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientistsʼ Doomsday Clock, first introduced in 1947, recently moved the fictional clock forward; it now rests at 100 seconds to midnight, or 100 seconds from destroying our-selves. The numerous threats posed by nuclear weapons, pandemics, weaponized technology, and cata-strophic climate change create an ʻenvironment of miseryʼ in which all action—and all inaction—is fraught with risk. Two recent novels employ dystopian visions of the United States and Britain, respectively, and explore the consequences of social engineering that takes place to minimize (perceived) risks and increase safety. Dalcherʼs Vox (2018) and Lanchesterʼs The Wall (2019) are two novels that are a commentary on a world in which risk is pervasive and in which (in)action can exacerbate dire circumstances. At the same time, the novels highlight that local (national) action is doomed to fail if it does not also consider the global interconnectedness of challenges and risks. © 2022, Faculty of Philology, University of Bialystok. Assessing Traffic Performance: Comparative Study of Human and Automated Hgvs in Urban Intersections and Highway Segments
(Univ Tun Hussein onn Malaysia, 2024) Almusawi, Ali; Albdairi, Mustafa; Qadri, Syed Shah Sultan Mohiuddin
This study conducts a comparative analysis of traffic dynamics at urban signalized intersections and on highways, incorporating both human-operated and automated heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) using the PTV VISSIM simulation model. It examines the impacts of automated driving technologies on critical traffic performance metrics such as queue length, travel time, vehicle delay, emissions, and fuel consumption. Initial findings indicate that automation in HGVs enhances traffic flow, particularly by reducing queue lengths and vehicle delays. However, varying levels of automation from cautious to aggressive reveal complex trade-offs between operational efficiency and environmental impacts. On highways, automated HGVs demonstrate superior performance by reducing travel times and delays while increasing throughput compared to human-driven HGVs. These results underscore the operational benefits of automated HGVs under diverse traffic conditions and highlight their significant implications for transportation planning and policy-making. This research contributes valuable insights into the integration of automated technologies in transportation systems, facilitating informed decision-making for stakeholders considering the adoption of these advancements in the current infrastructure.
