    The World Wide Web has expanded to include on-line access to an almost unlimited number of documents. However, this enormous source of information brings with it the problem of searching the documents efficiently and easily. We have developed a Web-based Question Answering System, which primarily focuses on open domain fact-based short answer questions and also some definition questions. The most important characteristics of the system are its capability in understanding questions given in a natural language style and the effective search which avoids transferring a large amount of unnecessary data. Experimental results show the superiority of the proposed method to available similar systems in terms of accuracy.

    The Internet has improved the quality and quantity of communication all over the world by providing opportunity to electronically deliver and share knowledge instantly all over the world. As for the impact of this on education the ones relevant for this study are the need to integrate educational technology and collaborative learning into curriculum. This is the third phase of a longitudinal study. It was carried out at an English Language Teacher Training Certificate Program, "Methodology" course at a Higher Education institution. The same course was being given by one instructor to two different groups of learners who had not met each other. Each week a different method was focused on by different groups of learners. Each group presented the principles of the method using the method itself and then discussions were carried out. The presentations were video-taped and discussions were carried out based on key points presented via power-point. The learners in the two courses focusing on the same methodology were asked to interact by means of the internet and their output was evaluated, Based on the results of data gathered it could be said that virtual teams learner outputs were, effective and in some cases were more effective than the face to face teams.

    Spam Mail Filtering Using Bayesian Classifier and Heuristics

    Commercials and virus infected files transferred by electronic mails (e-mail) have been a main source of time and resource loss during the past decade and email filtering as a binary text classification problem has attracted the attention of many researchers recently. In this study, we have tried to find a filtering solution which is able to automatically classify emails into spam and legitimate categories. In order to automatically and efficiently classify emails as spam or legitimate we took advantage of some Bayesian stochastic algorithms and machine learning based heuristic methods. Our approach includes some novel ideas from Information Retrieval.

    Analysis and Mathematical Computation of Some Dynamic Functions for the Guanidine Zinc Sulfate

    A power-law formula with a critical exponent alpha was used to analyze the anomalous behavior of the specific heat for guanidine zinc sulfate (GZS) crystal close to the phase transition temperature of T-c = 178.4 K. The obtained values of 0.13 and 0.14 for alpha below (T < T-c) and above (T> T-c) the phase transition temperature, respectively, were almost the same value of 0.13 (1/8) that predicted from the 3-D (sing model. Also, the internal energy U, the entropy S and the free energy G of this crystal were calculated as a function of temperature dose to the phase transition temperature of T-c = 178.4 K.

    Analysis and Mathematical Computation of Some Dynamic Function for Strontium Stannate

    The frequency and full width at half maximum (FWHM) data of the A(g) Raman modes (95.4, 231.4 and 263.2 cm(-1)) in strontium stannate crystal have been analyzed using the Balkanski model and the fitting parameters were determined. Also, the isobaric Gruneisen parameter of A(g) Raman modes studied here was computed below the room temperature. This computation was performed from the unit cell volume and the observed frequency data of this crystal. Finally, values of the activation energy were extracted close to the structural phase transition temperatures of 160 and 265 K using the observed FWHM data of strontium stannate.
