Assuming the error distribution to be one of this family, the methodology of modified likelihood is used to derive MML estimators of parameters in a linear regression model. The estimators are shown to be efficient, and robust to inliers. This paper is essentially the first to achieve robustness to infers. The methodology is extended to long-tailed symmetric distributions and the resulting estimators are shown to be efficient, and robust to outliers. This paper should be read in conjunction with Islam et al. It argues that just because the military believed itself to be a true guardian state, it easily considered intervention a legitimate solution. The perceived threats to the integrity of the Republican state posed by rampant terrorism were the key elements driving soldiers towards intervention. Makalenin amacı, temel kapasiteleri ve yaşam deneyimleri farklılık gösteren kadınların yoksulluğu yaşama biçimleri arasındaki benzerlik ve farklılıkları ortaya çıkarırken, gelir ve tüketimin yanı sıra maddi olmayan kaynakları ve olanakları da ele almaktır. Çalışmada, Ankara’da düşük gelir grubunda yaşayan 40 kadın ile derinlemesine görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Görüşülen kadınların evleri ve çevreleriyle ilgili gözlemlere ek olarak yoksulluğu önleyici programlara sahip bazı kurumlardan da bilgi edinilmiştir.Article Türkiye''de Kırsal Alanda Yoksulluğun Azaltılmasında Hayvancılığın Ve Hayvansal Ürün İşleyen Kobilerin Rolü(2004) Gülçubuk, Bülent; Aluftekin, Nilay1980’li yıllardan sonra uygulanan ekonomi politikalarından hayvancılık önemli ölçüde etkilenmiştir. Politikalar özellikle küçükbaş hayvancılık ile uğraşanları etkilemiştir. Çünkü, bunlar Türkiye’nin çoğunlukla az gelişmiş veya geri kalmış yörelerinde yaşamakta olup, alternatif gelir kaynakları da oldukça sınırlıdır. Küçükbaş hayvancılıkla uğraşanlar tarım kesiminin en dağınık ve örgütsüz grubunu oluşturmaktadır. Bu grup, ekonomik ve toplumsal değişim süreçleri sonunda giderek daha da yoksullaşmaktadır. Türkiye’de başta küçükbaş olmak üzere hayvan sayılarındaki sürekli azalışlar da bunu doğrulamaktadır. Nitekim, 1980-2001 yılları arasında koyun sayısında %44.5, kıl keçisi sayısında %56.1, tiftik keçisi sayısında %90.4 ve sığır sayısında %33.6 oranında azalma olmuştur. Sonuçta, önemli bir nüfus grubu giderek yoksullaşmakta veya kentlere göç ederek yeni yaşam maceralarına sürüklenmektedir.Türkiye’de küçükbaş hayvan varlığının en fazla olduğu Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi ile Güneydoğu Anadolu Bölgelerinde “yoksul birey oranı” sırasıyla %25.0 ve %24.0’dür. Kırsal ekonomik yapının önemli bir parçası durumunda olan hayvancılık sektörü, özellikle bu sektörü meydana getiren işletmelerin ölçekleri, yapıları, üretim süreçleri ve kuruluş yerleri açısından kendi bünyelerinde bir çok farklılıklar göstermektedir. Avrupa Birliği’ne girme çabasında olan Türkiye’de, hayvancılık sektöründe faaliyet gösteren küçük ve orta ölçekli işletmelerin (KOBİ) daha aktif, verimli ve üretken hale gelmesi kırsal kalkınma ve özellikle de yoksulluğun azaltılması açısından önem taşımaktadır.Bu makalede, yoksulluğun tanımı, nitelikleri ve bölgesel görünümü kısaca verildikten sonra kırsal alanda yoksulluk konusu ele alınmış ve kırsal alanda yoksulluğun azaltılmasında hayvancılığın ve hayvansal ürün işleyen KOBİ’lerin rolü tartışılmıştır. Ayrıca, kırsal alanda yoksulluğun azaltılması için hayvancılık politikaları konusunda stratejiler geliştirilmiştir.Book Part Corporate Diversification and Internal Capital Markets: Evidence from the Turkish Business Groups(2004) Gönenç, Halit; Kan, Özgür Berk; Karadağlı, Ece C.We compare the performance of firms affiliated with diversified business groups with the performance of unaffiliated firms in an emerging market, Turkey. Our findings indicate that group affiliation improves firm's accounting performance, but not stock market performance. Furthermore, we find that firm's accounting (but not stock market) performance increases with the level of group diversification. Our results also indicate that having a group affiliated bank affects the accounting performance measures of the group firms positively, but the market value of the group affiliated firms negatively, supporting the misallocation of capital hypothesis. In addition, having a group affiliated media institution is found to affect the performance of the group firms positively. More importantly, we examine the frequency of seasoned equity issue offerings with the forms of cash (right and restricted right) issues and bonus issues to address the question of whether group affiliated firms create an internal capital market. We show that unaffiliated firms are more bound to external markets to raise capital while the affiliated firms use internal capital markets.
